Patio Vegetable Collection - Seeds

Package size approx 18cm x 26cm (7"x10")

A collection of 9 vegetable varieties especially suited for containers.
 
Ideal for those who only have a small garden or want an addition to the garden vegetable patch or allotment.

All the varieties have been chosen carefully for their suitability to this form of cultivation without sacrificing taste or flavour. Remember to water and feed regularly.

This pack includes the following varieties

Beet

Beet - Solist

Average 150 seeds

This is a 'monogerm' variety which produces one seedling per cluster which means there is little thinning out required. The round, smooth roots have excellent flavour and a deep crimson internal colour. Do not cut off the tops but twist them off instead.

Instructions : Sow the seeds thinly 2.5cm (1") deep, successionally from Mar - July . Suitable for freezing or store away from frost in sand or soil.

Sowing : March - July Harvest : June -Onwards

Bunching Onion

Bunching Onion - Ishikura

Average 200 seeds

A Japanese bunching onion with no bulbing. Long white stalks with very little waste

Instructions : Sow thinly, 3/4" (1.5cm) deep directly into your pot or tub. It should not be necessary to thin the seedlings. Keep the plants well watered, particularly in dry weather, but do not overwater.

Sowing : March - June Harvest : May - October

Capsicum

Capsicum - Canape F1

Average 25 seeds

An excellent early variety for outdoor use that will produce an abundance of small to medium green fruits which if left will turn to red. Pick the fruits as soon as they start to colour and ripen off the plant.

Instructions : Sow using a good quality compost, very lightly cover the seed. Germinate at 25C. Transplant into 75mm (3") pots when the seedlings are large enough. After all risk of frost harden off and transfer into 25cm or larger container. Feed when the blossoms open.

Sowing : Feb - April Harvest : May - October

Carrot

Carrot - Amsterdam 2 Maxi (Baby Carrot)

Average 800 seeds

A superb 'Baby Carrot' variety ideal for growing in containers. Slender cylindrical roots with a good colour that does not produce oversize carrots even when harvested late.

Instructions : Sow seeds thinly 10mm deep directly into a large container. If you require larger carrots ensure that the container is at least 25-30cm (10"-12") deep. Thin the carrots as they grow using the thinnings as baby carrots.

Sowing : Feb -August Harvest : May - October

Courgette

Courgette - Ambassador F1

Average 10 seeds

Easy to grow courgette produces high quality dark green courgettes 10 - 20cm long. Keep picking them young to encourage more fruits.

Instructions : Sow 12mm deep 2 seeds to a 75mm pot in a greenhouse or window ledge. Plant out after all risk of frost has passed with 2 plants to a large container (40-50cm dia.) or Grow bag. Feed & Water regularly.

Sowing : April - June Harvest : June -October

Dwarf Runner Bean

Dwarf Runner Bean - Pickwick

Average 20 seeds

A dwarf Runner Bean that requires no support. Grows to approx 30cm and produces a heavy crop of tender tasty beans.

Instructions : Sow in a 75mm pot in a greenhouse or on a window ledge, plant out after all risk of frost has passed. Can also be sown directly outside from Mid May. Feed occasionally and water well and pick regularly.

Sowing : May - June Harvest : July - October

Leek

Leek - Swiss Giant Zermatt

Average 280 seeds

A Swiss Giant type with rust resistance. Early to mature with a long shank and erect foliage. A very good choice for baby leeks.

Instructions : Sow thinly 3/4" (1.5cm) deep. Thin as necessary. Keep the plants well watered, particularly in dry weather, but do not overwater. Suitable for baby leeks or let them grow on as they have good storage characteristics.

Sowing : March - May Harvest : July - October

Salad Leaf Mix

Salad Leaf Mix - Baby Leaf Salad Mix

Average 500 seeds

Grow your own delicious mixed salad leaves. The leaves are best picked when young & tender. Simply pull a few leaves from each plant.

Instructions : Sow very thinly 20mm (3/4") deep every 2-3 weeks for a continuous supply of young leaves. Water regularly.

Sowing : April onwards Harvest : May onwards

Tomato

Tomato - Garden Pearl

Average 25 seeds

Garden Pearl has been bred specifically for use in hanging baskets and containers. It has a cascading habit and produces a good crop of sweet red cherry tomato's.

Instructions : Sow on the surface of good quality compost, cover lightly with vermiculite and germinate at 20C. Transplant into 75mm (3") pots when large enough. Harden off before planting out. Do not pinch out side shoots

Sowing : Indoors. Jan to March Harvest : June to Oct
