Suitable for both the novice and more experienced vegetable grower.

Excellent bolting resistance, wonderful flavour with good colour and texture. Suitable for early and maincrop. Do not let them get too large.
Instructions : Sow successionally from Mar - July 2.5cm (1") deep with rows 30cm (12") apart, sow thinly then thin out to 10cm (4") apart. Suitable for freezing or store away from frost in sand or soil.
Sowing : March to July Harvest : June onwards

Early variety which produces good quality spears which can be harvested over several weeks. A very underated vegetable extremely tender and tasty.
Instructions : Sow Mar-May in a well-prepared bed in drills 12mm (1/2") deep, spaced 30cm (12") apart. When seedlings are established transplant to their final position 75x75cm (30x30") apart. Plant firmly and water well.
Sowing : March to May Harvest : Late January onwards

Early ballhead Summer cabbage with round medium sized green heads with good bolting resistance.
Instructions : Sow early February in trays of seed compost in a cold frame or greenhouse. Keep moist. Harden off young plants before planting into final position, spacing 40cm x 40cm (15" x 15"). Plant firmly and water well until established. Alternatively sow March-May 1.5cm (1/2") deep in a seed bed, transplant when large enough.

Marathon is one of the most versatile and popular varieties. It is suitable for early and late sowings as well as maincrop. Produces deep wel formed heads with a good colour.
Instructions : Sow 1cm (1/2") deep in a well prepared seedbed. Transplant when the plants are large enough 45 - 50cm apart, allowing 50cm between the rows. Ready for harvest approx 75 days.
Sowing : April to July Harvest : July - November

Cylindrical roots with good flavour and colour. A good choice as with regular sowings you will have a long harvest period.
Instructions : Early sowings can be made under a cloche, Sow 1cm (1/2") deep with rows 30cm (12in) apart. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin out until they are 7-10cm (3-4") apart. Later thinnings will be large enough to be used as baby carrots.
Sowing : February to August Harvest : May to October

Large pure white heads with excellent flavour. Will keep in good condition for long periods.
Instructions : Sow Mar-June in a well prepared seed bed 1.5cm (1/2") deep. When large enough transplant to growing position, allowing 45-60cm (18-24") between plants. Can also be sown under glass Sept-Oct and Jan-March and then transplanted out in April

This variety is particularly hardy and produces long thick stems with broad leaves.
Instructions : Sow 1.5cm (1/2") deep. Thin as required. Transplant to final growing position in June-July, taking care to avoid damage to the roots. Water into 15cm (6") deep holes 6" apart with 30cm (12") between rows. Blanch during autumn by drawing up the soil around the stems.
Sowing : March to April Harvest : October to March

One of the best varieties for kitchen or show, with a rich golden coloured skin and mild flavour.
Instructions : Sow Dec-Feb in trays, lightly cover with 0.5cm (1/4") of compost and grow at 18-20C. When large enough to handle prick out into 8cm (3") pots and harden off. Plant out in April 30cm (12") apart and 30cm (12") between rows. Can also be direct sown March-April 1.5cm (3/4") deep. Thin as necessary using thinnings as spring onions.
Sowing : Dec - Feb or March - April Harvest : August onwards
The worlds first hybrid parsnip. Fast maturing long pointed roots with very good canker resistance. Leave them in the ground until required.
Instructions : Sow in well prepared soil 1cm (1/2") deep with rows 30cm (12") apart. Sow clusters of 3-4 seeds every 20cm (8") and thin out after germination. Why not sow a pinch of Lettuce between the clusters as they will be ready before the parsnips are up.
